Swim with Dolphins in Cancun, Riviera Maya, Cozumel, Vallarta, Mexico and the Caribbean

Please introduce yourself and tell us a little about your business.

My name is Kelly and I am the Community Manager for Dolphin Discovery.  Dolphin Discovery offers interactive programs with dolphins, sea lions, and manatees in an educational and fun setting.  We have programs for all ages, from the Dolphin Encounter which is great for small children or people with limited abilities in the water, to the Royal Swim for those seeking adrenaline.  Our staff is dedicated to continued marine animal research and in educating the public about conservation and the preservation of our oceans and marine life.  Dolphin Discovery takes great pride in offering superior care for our marine animals, with healthy, happy animals we can provide the best experience for our guests.

Where in Mexico does Dolphin Discovery operate?  Tell us about some of the featured destinations and tour itineraries.

Dolphin Discovery operates in some of the top destinations in Mexico: Cozumel, Riviera Maya, Cancun/Isla Mujeres, Puerto Vallarta and Mexico City.  The Mexican Caribbean destinations are simply gorgeous places to swim with dolphins, crystal clear waters in all natural settings.  Our Cozumel location is inside the national park “Chankanaab”, our guests can enjoy the incredible flora and fauna of the island, including snorkeling on one of the best reefs in the world as part of their day.  The Riviera Maya location is one of my personal favourites, the lagoon setting is so cozy and I love watching Robert the baby manatee who was rescued by our team in 2009.  The Cancun/Isla Mujeres location is HUGE, one of the largest natural areas anywhere for swimming with dolphins.  In Puerto Vallarta we are located in “Aquaventuras Park”, a fabulous water park with lots of slides and attractions.  The Mexico City location is inside Six Flags park, swim with dolphins and get your thrills on the roller coasters!

Enjoy Interactive Programs with Dolphins, Sea Lions and Manatees

Tour itineraries vary from location to location and your schedule will depend on where you are staying.  If you are in the Riviera Maya, you can visit our Puerto Aventuras location just for your swim with dolphins program then go shopping or exploring the area on your own.  Getting to Isla Mujeres from the mainland usually means that it’s a full day affair, catching a ferry in the morning, crossing to the island, having your dolphin swim then having a few hours free to enjoy the pool, do a little kayaking, go for a bike ride around the island or even add a trip to Garrafon Park to your day.  Dolphin swims are usually scheduled four times a day, times depend on the location, usually 10:30, 12, 2:15 and 3:30, you can choose your slot at the time of booking depending on availability.  We do recommend booking in advance, particularly during high season, we limit the numbers in our groups in order to give everyone the maximum experience.

All guests will first have an orientation session where a guide will explain a bit about dolphins and how to best interact with them for their protection and the guests enjoyment.  The group will then proceed to enter the water with the dolphins (or manatees or sea lions!) and begin the program.  The activities will depend on the program the guest has selected.  The Dolphin Encounter includes a kiss, a hug, a dance and a whole lot of dolphin love.  The “Swim Adventure” program adds the exciting belly ride and the “Royal Swim” is the package full of speed and adrenaline with the “foot push” you’ll be propelled through the water by the soles of your feet and dolphin power!  In addition, some of our locations offer programs with manatees and sea lions, truly unique experiences!

Are the tours offered by Dolphin Discover available to travelers of all ages? Are there any special restrictions for children?

Dolphin Discovery is the perfect family adventure, we have something for all ages and all swimming abilities.  The Dolphin Encounter program is for anyone over the age of 1 year (I love watching little babies get big smiles when they touch the dolphins!)  The Dolphin Swim Adventure and the Royal Swim have a minimum height requirement of 3′ 11″.

Are you currently offering any special rates or promotions? How should someone go about booking a tour with Dolphin Discovery?

We have some “Hot Summer Deals” right now, up to 20% off your swim with dolphins programs in any location.  People can always check out “deals” section for the best promos!  Booking a tour is simple, visit our main page at www.dolphindiscovery.com and you’ll have options for live chat with our bilingual customer service representatives, email contact, secure online booking or you can call our 800 numbers to book through our call center in Cancun.

Is there anything else you’d like our readers to know about Dolphin Discovery? Where can our readers go for more information?

Dolphin Discovery Staff

I think it’s important for people to know that Dolphin Discovery staff are incredibly passionate, kind, caring and dedicated to the animals. In speaking with our trainers I am always overwhelmed by their devotion, they’ll often spend long nights on watch over newborn dolphins or volunteering their time to assist with animal rescue operations.  They always go one step beyond to ensure the best possible care for our marine animal friends.

For more information, we’d love people to join our online communities!  We can be found on Facebook, “Dolphin Discovery“, on Twitter “@dolphin_swim“, our Dolphin Discovery Blog and of course our main Dolphin Discovery website.

Thanks so much for inviting us to participate in the Friday Explorer Series.

We hope you enjoyed today’s interview. A special thanks to Kelly for taking the time to speak with us and please contact her directly with tour inquiries.
