Corazón del Árbol is a small vegetarian restaurant in Colonia Roma Norte in Mexico City, not far from our apartment. We’ve walked by numerous times and have been meaning to stop in for a while now. Last night we finally made it there for dinner.

The restaurant serves international vegetarian cuisine in a casual setting. We climbed the spiral staircase to the rooftop dining area and took at seat at one of the long picnic-style tables. The simple, open-air space is decorated with a colorful variety of potted plants and artwork. The menu features several pages of vegetarian and vegan options and a variety of organic coffees, teas and juices. We ordered falafel, portobello and shared a pitcher of agua de jamaica. The falafel was delicious, perfectly wrapped in pita bread with carrots and fresh greens. And the portobello sandwich was quite tasty as well.

In addition to the restaurant there’s also a small shop selling organic and sustainable products. From time to time Corazón del Árbol hosts workshops, concerts, exhibitions and films. Highly recommended if you’re going to be in D.F.

Lovely! I’ll have to try it out. Always looking for good vegetarian places to drag my husband to. :-)
