I love travelling and one of my latest destinations was Mexico. I actually spent a month travelling around the country so I got to sample a bit of everything and had the chance to see paradise beaches with crystal clear water (something I have always dreamt of seeing), as well as explore the ruins of the famous Teotihuacan. Here are just five of the reasons why I would recommend going to Mexico.
1. To sample Mexican food
Everyone loves tacos and guacamole…right? Going to Mexico is the best opportunity to sample your favourite dishes and even try some things that you have never heard of before. I would recommend going to Los Girasoles restaurant in Mexico City…this was one of my favourite restaurants when I was on holiday in the city.
2. Getting there is not expensive
In the past you would probably never have considered going to Mexico because of the price of flights. However, the increasing popularity of this destination for honeymoons, romantic holidays and cultural visits has created competition between airlines so now you can easily find cheap flights to destinations all over the country with airlines such as American Airlines and Delta Air Lines.
3. Historical buildings, ruins and monuments
Mexico is famous for its historical buildings, monuments and ruins. My favourite destination was the capital, Mexico City, because of its historical buildings and beautiful architecture.
4. Paradise resorts
If like me you love the idea of lying out on the beach all day and swimming in warm water, you will love some of Mexico’s most popular beach resorts. This is a great destination for newlyweds.
5. Mexico is cheap
If you do your research well and avoid tourist traps, you will enjoy all the things which the locals love about their country. I would recommend asking in your hostel or hotel where to find the cheapest restaurants and the best way to get around the city. You will be able to wine and dine without spending a fortune in Mexico if you follow this advice.

I love Mexico too! My husband and I traveled through the country for 3 months in 2006 and now we’re on a 6 month trip through South America. I definitely miss their food!
I spent a few months in SA and loved it! The food in Argentina and Uruguay is pretty amazing as well!!
