There are lots of destinations in Mexico that travellers love to visit….Mexico City, Acapulco, Cancun and Baja California to name just a few. Some of the reasons why I wanted to visit Mexico were to see the famous ruins at Teotihuacan and lie on the paradise beaches that I had always seen in holiday brochures. Obviously I had to travel quite a bit around Mexico to fulfill all of my dreams. However, I believe there is a destination in Mexico suited to any traveller. All you need to know is how to get there…so here are some travel tips to help you find cheap flights to Mexico, pick the right destination and enjoy your stay.
Getting to Mexico
Given the popularity of Mexico as a holiday destination, it is not surprising that it is relatively easy to find cheap airline tickets. If you are travelling to Mexico from Europe or another international destination, I would recommend searching for flights to Benito Juarez International Airport, which is the main hub serving Mexico City and the most important in the country. If your destination is not Mexico City, you should consider booking flights to this hub and then a low cost flight on to your final destination. You should find direct flights from the USA to many destinations in Mexico.
Picking your destination
This really depends on what you want to see and do…or the reason for your holidays. For example, if you want a romantic break away for two, somewhere nice for your honeymoon, or a beach resort with great nightlife, I would recommend Acapulco, Cancun, Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo or Barra de Navidad.
If you want to explore UNESCO World Heritage Sites and learn more about Mexican traditions and culture you should go to Mexico City or Puebla.
For beautiful landscapes and the chance to find out about traditions and culture, take a trip to Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Dolores Hidalgo or Queretaro.
Before you travel
Make sure you go and see your doctor before travelling in case you need to get any vaccinations. Bear in mind that some vaccinations must be given a few months before travelling.
While you are there
Mexico is a popular tourist destination and despite its reputation, it is relatively safe to travel around many of the most popular cities and resorts. However, like in any city, make sure you don’t carry a lot of money around with you. You should take extra care not to wear flashy clothes or expensive jewellery. Don’t draw attention to yourself and be careful of pickpockets.
Finally…..enjoy your trip in one of the most beautiful countries in the world.
