If you’ve booked flights to Mexico City between now and January 15th you’ll have the opportunity to tour El Nacimiento Mas Grande Del Mundo, or the largest nativity scene in the world. The nativity scene, or nacimiento, is an important Christmas tradition in Mexico and the principal holiday adornment in many Mexican households. This particular record-breaking nativity scene is part of Mexico City’s annual “Magia de la Navidad” Christmas program of events. Costing the equivalent of two million dollars, it’s a life-size recreation of the city of Belén with 57 scenes covering 20,000 square meters.
